Do ka chaar
Hello readers,
This is my first blog and I decided to write this because I think it will make me feel good being able to communicate my thoughts to people.

I recently came across a movie on Netflix by the name of "Chaman Bahar" directed by Apurva Dhar Badgaiyan and it stars one of my favorite actors of this generation Jeetendra Kumar fondly known as Jeetu Bhaiya. Along with him stars Ritika Badiani. The story revolves around Billu, a small-town guy who goes against his family tradition and opens up a small shop of paan and falls in love with the girl named Rinku living opposite to his shop. I have always been fond of no non-sense low budget films rather than brainless commercial movies starring big names. Chaman Bahar is one such a feel-good movie with some of the scenes so flawlessly carried out by the lead actor and other cast members. It reminded me of some old movies where the story used to be simple, straightforward yet rich with content. The audience used to connect to the emotion so effortlessly. After watching the movie I saw its review by Anupama Chopra although I am not a big fan of her reviews since she is a little biased I still watch them to improve my vocabularyπ
She compared Jeetendra Kumar's performance to Amol Palekar's and I agree with her 100% on this. Jeetendra Kumar is so effortless and lucid while performing on the screen that we forget that that is him. His portrayal of a middle-class man is so lucid and elegant it is as if he was made for the roles he portrays. I think that is the greatness of an actor wherein we forget the real person and they make us believe that they are indeed the characters being played on the screen.
Another highlight of the movie apart from some amazing performances by the cast is the song "Do ka Char" which now finally justifies the title of this blog. This is such an underrated gem sung by Sonu Nigam, the only person who could have done justice to this song. The song is penned by Apurva Dhar and the music is composed by Anshuman Mukherjee. So, I have this habit where if I like some song it plays on loop till I get fed up with it. I search about it on every possible platform and gather as much information about it and get obsessed with it and make everyone listen to it. I become this kid who gets obsessed with new things and shows it off everywhere. I love deconstructing a song and try to understand the emotions behind it.
So this song has some great lines wherein the guy compares his lover with gulkand and meetha paan and roohafza. The simplicity of this song is such that it makes my heart ache. Since I am a die-hard romantic, I love listening to such songs that describe love in a more intimate manner by diving into the depths of the feeling. Another reason is that this song made me travel to a distant memory which was blurred but the innocence was still fresh and uncorrupted. It is like a temporary escape from today's daunting reality. The song has some great lines but one such line which tops is where he sings 'Mai betod dard ki kahani , tu hi hai mera malham yunani' which roughly translates to 'I am a story full of pain and you are the balsam'. Along with such great lyrics is the composition of the song. It is mesmerizing and magnetic and only people with great taste in music will appreciate the beauty of this song. I told one of my friends that this is how a romantic song should be where you can express your feelings even by comparing it with a paan and that the power of music is highly underrated.
Bollywood please learn something. Instead of making shitty remixes of even shittier songs, kindly produce something original. People will appreciate it :)
